Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Meet Drago 6 months old. Shepherd mix. And already… he’s been through more than any puppy should. When Drago ended up at the shelter, his previous owners didn’t come running to get him, they told staff to just euthanize him because they didn’t want to pay the reclaim fee. Let that sink in. Thankfully, one of our amazing partners stepped in just hours before that could happen, and Drago made his way safely to us. Now it’s our turn to make sure the rest of his story is the one he deserves. ❤️ But we’re going to be real with you—Drago isn’t a “plug and play” puppy. It’s clear he hasn’t had much (if any) indoor life or structure. He currently believes: Counters = free snack bar Personal space = optional Kids = exciting, love them! Dogs = BEST THING EVER… but play manners? Never heard of them This boy plays HARD and LOVES it. He’s energetic, strong, and absolutely not a “short walk around the block” kind of dog. What Drago needs: ✔️ A committed, patient home ✔️ Someone ready to invest in training from the ground up ✔️ Structure, boundaries, and consistency ✔️ An active lifestyle to match his energy What Drago is: A blank slate Incredibly loving Full of potential A dog who just never got the chance to be taught He’s not “too much”—he’s just never been shown how to be anything else. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
