Description
Dog Breed: Shar Pei / Cattle Dog / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Asaigo is an adorable 6-week-old Sharpei/Cattle Dog pup He was found in Texas with his siblings as a newborn bottle baby after their mom was tragically said to have been poisoned. Despite such a rough start, Asaigo is safe, loved, and thriving. He’s the smallest of the group and tends to be a bit shy and observant at first—but don’t let that fool you. A few little movements of a toy and he’s quick to pounce! Watching him come out of his shell is the sweetest thing. We’ll be posting a full bio once he’s a little older and we get a better sense of his personality, but we just had to share how absolutely cute he is… especially those tiny eyebrows ! And yes… he still has that irresistible puppy breath Important Details: They are currently 6 weeks old and will NOT go home until 8 weeks old (no exceptions). We are accepting applications now so we can find the perfect match ahead of time. DNA results are posted for full transparency. ⚠️ Please read before applying: Because of the top two breeds (Sharpei & Cattle Dog), we are being very intentional with placement: No rentals – we are requiring a stable, long-term home. Homes with children must have prior experience with herding breeds. Cattle Dogs are known for their natural herding instincts, which can include nipping, especially during puppyhood. This isn’t aggression—it’s instinct—but it does require understanding, training, and proper guidance. The ideal home: This pup will need a home that understands both breeds: Cattle Dog side: Active, structured, and committed to training and mental stimulation. These dogs thrive when they have a “job” and consistent guidance. Sharpei side: Loyal, independent, and naturally more reserved. Sharpeis tend to be protective of their people and can be wary of strangers, so early socialization and confident leadership are key. They do best in homes that respect their space, understand their boundaries, and provide calm, consistent structure. Overall, the best fit is a confident, experienced dog home that can balance activity, training, and proper socialization to help this pup grow into a well-rounded adult. If you’re ready for the fun, the chaos, and the unconditional love that comes with raising a puppy like this—apply now and get pre-approved before they’re ready to head home! #RescuePup #SharpeiMix #CattleDogMix #HerdingBreed #PuppyLove

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
