Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. If you’re the kind of person who believes in giving a shy dog the time they need to feel safe, Hershey just might be your perfect match! Hershey is a sweet, gentle little soul with the cutest smile and a happy wiggle that turns into a full-on dance when you walk through the door. ❤️ That “welcome home” excitement? It’s her signature move—and it’s pretty hard not to fall in love. She is guessed to be approx. 1.5yrs old She didn’t have the easiest start in life, coming from a situation where she lived outdoors with many other dogs, so new people and new experiences can feel a little scary at first. Because of that, Hershey just needs a little patience and time to build confidence. Once she trusts you she truly blossoms into a loving and loyal companion who just wants to be close and soak up affection. She might have a little beagle in her, so she can be a bit vocal, but she’s been doing wonderfully with the “no bark” command—even when the neighbor dogs are carrying on (we’re so proud of her!). She enjoys lounging on the back patio, quietly watching the world go by, and is fully housebroken. Hershey might need a little extra support at dealing with some allergies but nothing unmanageable. What she gives in return is something really special!! ❤️ Her best fit is a patient family with a quieter home, fenced in yard b/c she does not do well on a leash and a social dog friend. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
