Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Name: Sugar Sex: Female Estimated Age: About 9 years old Best Guess for Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix Weight: About 45 lbs Lives With: Dogs, cats, kids and all people! Housebroken? She’s potty trained and crate trained! Rescued from: Virginia Story: Sugar is a super sweetie. She walks easily on leash, doesn’t pull. Just strolls calmly. She’s a funny girl and will “toss” toys to herself once comfortable in a space and likes to remove the squeakers. She’s great with being left alone or in a separate space if needed. She’s been great with using the bathroom outside, and is crate trained. Sugary is low energy. Likes just lounging and snoozing inside. And apparently really enjoys watching TV, especially shows with animals like animal planet or shows about zoos or vets. She’d be a perfect dog for a first time adopter - just a sweet, friendly, easy companion! The fee to adopt Sugar is $350. That covers the cost of all her vaccines, her spay, the collar she’s wearing, her transport to DC and her care in her foster home. She’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
