Description
Dog Breed: Terrier. Monty is an incredibly sweet and gentle pup, the definition of a lovebug. He absolutely adores people and thrives on human connection. He's wonderful with children, gets along well with other dogs, and has a calm, easygoing nature that makes him a joy to have around. On walks, he's a dream-- well-mannered and great on leash. At home, his favorite place is right next to you… or even better, on you. Monty loves to snuggle as close as possible and would happily spend hours curled up in your lap or tucked in beside you in bed. He doesn't enjoy being left alone for long periods and would do best in a home where his owner didn't have to leave all day for work. Monty has been known to jump up on a counter or table if there's food around so be sure to keep food out of reach :) If you’re looking for a loyal, cuddly companion who will shower you with love and be your constant sidekick, this sweet soul is ready to steal your heart. Monty is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, and is on monthly flea/heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250 and you can apply to adopt at mpravl. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
