Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Meet Sheriff, the 32lb. 'love bug' who proves three legs are more than enough to live life to the fullest. At just 8 months old, this handsome pup is already a master of resilience! While we aren't sure of his breed, he has a adorable hound howl to say goodbye to his foster mom, but otherwise rarely barks. Sheriff is pretty low engery, he enjoys a walk and a yard to play in. He is affectionate, and perfectly happy to lounge, but still has the puppy eagerness to learn. He is a master at sun bathing outside, playng chase in the yard with his human step siblilngs, cuddling on the couch and being the best friend a family could ask for. Sheriff is eager to learn whatever his humans want to teach him. He is house trained and working on his crate training skills He loves kids and other dogs. Sheriff is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all age-appropriate vaccines, flea, tick and heartworm prevention. He will be availabe for adoption on or after April 19th. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
