Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. *If you’d like to wake up every morning to wiggles and loving puppy kisses, Kenzie may be the girl for you!* Kenzie is a 31 Flavors, 13lb 6 1/2 month old puppy who loves toys, snuggles and exploring every inch of the world. She’s thriving in her foster home and she’s ready to find her furever home. She would thrive in an engaged, structured home where she is not alone for extended periods of time. Under the care of someone dedicated to meeting her need for physical activity and mental stimulation, Kenzie will continue to grow into an amazing companion. Someone with an active yet steady & predictable lifestyle would be a great fit. Kenzie sleeps in her crate at night waking up only for potty breaks. In the morning, she wakes up full of joy and endless energy ready to play and practice her commands. So far, she knows how to sit and is practicing the down command. She has learned to cohabitate happily with her foster brother and would do well with any dog who gives her time to warm up, respects her boundaries and whose play style isn’t too rough. She does love having her very own space (her crate) where she can bury her toys & chew sticks under her blankets so her foster brother can’t get to them. She also settles nicely in her crate during the day with a chew stick or stuffed Kong for scheduled rest periods. Her house training is going well and she has been going to the door when she needs to go out but she’s still a puppy and needs to be taken out regularly & closely supervised in the house with positive reinforcement for her successes. She loves to “collect” things and she’ll take anything she can reach so her new home will need to be puppy proofed for her safety. She has not been tested with cats. Due to her small size and high energy, Kenzie would do best in a home with structure, a steady pace and no small children. In the right environment and with structure & positive reinforcement, the sky is the limit with this adorable, clever girl! She is a quick learner who would love obedience training and could be an agility champ! Kenzie is still learning to trust and may be a bit timid initially but she warms up quickly and once she does she’s a total love bug. Every day is an adventure with this spunky girl. Her antics will keep you entertained & laughing while her snuggles will melt your heart. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and will be available for adoption starting 4/19/26 through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA KL# 16182.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
