Please apply online at texasgreatdane/adoption-application/ ** Meet Gunner — a hunk of burning love with a whole lot of personality! Gunner is a 3-year-old, 65-pound Husky who might just be the sweetest dog on the planet. Seriously — this boy loves everything and everyone. His happy, affectionate nature makes him the kind of dog who turns every moment into a good one just by being there. In true Husky fashion, Gunner is also quite the talker! When he gets excited, you’ll be treated to his signature “woo-woo” serenades — his adorable way of chatting with you and sharing his joy. It’s part of his charm, and once you hear it, you won’t be able to imagine life without it. Despite his fun, goofy personality, Gunner is also a well-mannered guy. He’s house trained, crate trained, and knows how to use the dog door, making him an easy addition to your home. And yes — he’s a bit of a chunky boy, which just adds to his lovable, huggable appeal! Gunner is neutered, current on all vaccinations, and heartworm negative — healthy and ready to find his forever family. If you’re looking for a dog who will make you laugh, keep you company, and love you with his whole heart (and voice!), Gunner is your guy. Please understand you are committing to providing a good home for his entire life (up to 15+ years or more.) You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization. His adoption fee is $200. This includes his neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, Nobivac® Canine 1-DAPP vaccination, Nobivac® Intra-Trac 3 vaccination, Drontal® Plus, IDEXX SNAP® 4Dx Plus Test, Tri-Heart® Plus chewable tablet, 24PetWatch® microchip, and leash and collar. Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
