Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Ben, a Terrier mix born 2/8/26, is the biggest of his siblings—and once you hear him at mealtime, you’ll definitely understand why! This handsome boy isn’t shy about expressing his excitement when treats or food are involved, and his enthusiastic “announcements” are guaranteed to make you laugh. Ben has a sweet and independent side but loves to get scratches. When it’s time to nap, he sometimes prefers a little personal space—especially if he’s feeling warm or needs a break from his busy siblings. He’s the perfect mix of playful and “I’ll just do my own thing for a bit.” Ben is currently working on potty training and is trying his best to use his puppy pads. His foster family is helping him learn that going outside is the goal (with treats as his favorite reward, of course!), and with how food-motivated he is, he has all the potential to catch on quickly. This handsome boy has a sleek, mostly black coat with subtle brown “brushstroke” accents around his face and legs. And if you call out “Benny Boo Boo Boo Boo Boo,” don’t be surprised when he comes running full speed—he loves the attention and is always ready to be part of the action. Ben is a big personality with an even bigger heart. With a little continued training (and a steady supply of treats!), he’s going to make an incredibly fun, loyal, and entertaining companion. If you’re looking for a goofy, lovable pup who will keep you smiling, Ben is your guy. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $625.00

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
