Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 300. ATTENTION: All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs. If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to .secondchancedogrescue and complete an application. We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Meet Chico! Chico is a vibrant little 10-lb, 4 year old male Terrier/Chihuahua mix. He is leashed-trained and crate-trained and sleeps soundly through the night in his crate, but also loves to snuggle with you! He loves to run around and play. He’s been fostered on a farm with chickens, ducks, other dogs, and pigs and has no prey drive. He is an easy going little guy! Chico is crate-trained and potty trained, and he’d love to be part of your family! He will do best in a home with at least one other dog to keep him company. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered, and micro-chipped. His adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption. Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs, vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to .secondchancedogrescue and complete an application today! All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
