Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Meet Buc‑ee! This 1‑year‑old pitbull has a heart just as big as his blocky head. He’s a social guy who enjoys other dogs—he may pull with excitement when he first meets them, but once he gets his hello out of the way, he drops into a goofy play bow and invites them to join the fun. Buc‑ee was also cat‑tested and, after a bit of staring, he offered a play bow to the cat too. We believe he could live with a confident, dog‑savvy cat. Buc-ee is also good with kids 12 and over, or kids who can handle a big, playful dog. Buc‑ee is a bouncy, enthusiastic playmate with dogs, but the moment you sit on the ground, he transforms into a total cuddle bug. If you’re looking for a big-hearted, silly, affectionate companion, Buc‑ee might be your guy. Buc-ee's adoption fee is $100, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
