Description
Dog Breed: Border Collie (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $250. Hi, I’m Willo — your future shadow, snack connoisseur, and professional couch companion. I’m an almost 4-year-old Border Collie (yes, I have the brains and the beauty), weighing in at a very dainty and elegant 50 pounds. I’ve got this whole “gentle lady” thing down to an art form — I don’t lick (you’re welcome), but I will softly nuzzle my nose into you like I’m telling you a secret. Which I probably am. My biggest secret is that my first owner passed away and I'm looking for someone to fill the hole in my heart <3 Let’s get the important stuff out of the way: I am fully house trained and kennel trained. Zero accidents. Gold star behavior. HOWEVER… I do have some thoughts about the kennel situation. Mainly that I’d rather not. I might sing you a little bedtime song (okay… I bellow) for a bit when you put me in, just so you don’t forget I exist and belong somewhere softer… like, say, your couch. Or your bed. Or directly next to you at all times. Speaking of which — once I warm up (I just need a minute to make sure you pass my vibe check), I will become your loyal little shadow. Bathroom? I’m there. Getting ready? I’m supervising. Sitting down? Perfect, I’ll be at your feet. Existing? I support you. I absolutely adore humans, and while I get along great with other dogs (even puppies!), I do appreciate polite introductions. If someone gets a little too in-my-face, I’ll kindly let them know, “No thank you, personal space please.” Boundaries are important, you know? I am very patient though! Let’s talk food. I’m… selective. Meals? Meh. But snacks? Oh, I’m listening! Bananas, raspberries, cheese, bread? Yes, yes, YES, and yes. Blackberries? Absolutely not. I have standards. I’m the perfect mix of playful and calm. I love a good game of chase with my dog friends, but I’m just as happy lounging like a queen on the couch or curled up at your feet. Toys? Not really my thing. Companionship? That’s my jam. I prefer a calm, cozy home — loud noises aren’t really my favorite. I’m more of a “let’s relax together and enjoy the quiet life” kind of girl. Oh , and one more thing: I love being brushed. Like, love it. Spa day? Yes please. Bath time? Hard pass. We don’t need to discuss it. My eyes will tell you everything I’m thinking (which is usually something along the lines of “you’re my person now”), and if you give good ear scratches — we’re going to get along just fine. If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal, slightly dramatic, snack-loving best friend who just wants to be near you and love you quietly… I’m your girl. Have your people call my people: bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication All my love, Willo

Overview:
The Border Collie is a highly intelligent and energetic herding dog, originating from the Anglo-Scottish border region where they were bred for their exceptional sheep-gathering abilities. Physically, they are medium-sized dogs with an athletic build, typically weighing between 30-55 pounds, and feature a double coat that can be rough or smooth, appearing in a wide variety of colors, though black and white is most common. Their alert, intense gaze is a hallmark of the breed. Temperamentally, Border Collies are renowned for their incredible trainability, eagerness to please, and boundless energy, making them excellent candidates for dog sports like agility and obedience. However, this high drive means they require significant mental and physical stimulation; without proper outlets, they can become bored and destructive. While loyal and affectionate with their families, their herding instincts can sometimes translate to nipping at children or other pets if not managed, making them generally better suited for experienced owners who can dedicate time to their training and exercise needs. They are definitely not suited for apartment living and thrive in homes with large, secure yards and active lifestyles. Health-wise, they are generally robust, but can be prone to certain genetic conditions such as Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA), hip and elbow dysplasia, and Trapped Neutrophil Syndrome (TNS).
