Description
Dog Breed: Chinese Crested-Hairless. Meet Clancy! Clancy is a sweet and special Chinese Crested looking for a patient home that will give him the time he needs to feel safe and loved. He may be a little shy at first, but once he learns to trust you, his affectionate personality shines through. Clancy gets along well with other dogs and cats, though he prefers calm introductions and does not like other pets rushing into his face. Because of this, he would do best in a home without small children and with adopters who understand how to help a sensitive dog feel comfortable. He can be a little possessive of his person because he bonds closely and loves being near you. Clancy is about 90% house trained and does a great job when you pay attention to his cues to go outside. As a hairless breed, Clancy will need some extra skin care and maintenance to keep him comfortable and healthy. In return, you’ll get a loyal, loving companion who just wants to be your special little shadow. Applications can be filled out at .piedmontanimalrescue/adopt! Please only apply if you are serious about adopting. Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine. The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you. The first step to adopting is to fill out an application for adoption. Once approved we will arrange a time for you to meet the animal you are interested in. If it is a match the adoption can then be completed and you can take home your new furry family member. If it is not a match we will file your approved application and you can wait till you find the perfect match.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
