Description
Dog Breed: Boxer. Warning: excessive smiling may occur when Mikey is nearby At just 18 months old, this fawn boxer is pure, unfiltered FUN. Mikey is the kind of dog who wakes up ready to party and assumes you feel the same way. Toys? Yes. Zoomies? Absolutely. Attention? He’ll take all of it, please and thank you. Mikey’s motto right now is “play play play,” with a side of “oops, forgot my manners.” He’s working on important life skills like four on the floor instead of launching himself into your personal space like a lovable missile. He’s dog friendly, but can be a bit much for smaller dogs—he doesn’t always realize his own enthusiasm. He met a cat and gave a solid “meh,” which we’ll count as a win. He’s currently getting all his vetting squared away and will be ready for adoption in early May. Mikey is safe now. Loved. And on his way to the life every dog deserves. Now he just needs his people. Available in the Northeast (NY, NJ, CT, RI, VT, PA, DE, MD, NoVA) Apply to adopt: .chboxerrescue/adopt If your home could use a daily dose of chaos, laughter, and a whole lot of love… Mikey’s your guy.

Breed overview
Boxer
A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
