Description
Dog Breed: Great Dane. Meet Judd Location: Houston, TX DOB: 01/27/2019 If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion, Judd may be your perfect match. This sweet, soulful boy is the definition of devotion. Judd forms strong bonds with his people and loves nothing more than being close to his favorite person. He’ll gently lay his head on you and look at you like you’re the best thing in the world. He follows you from room to room, happily keeping you company throughout the day. Judd has a calm, laid-back personality and is happiest living a relaxed lifestyle. He’s the ultimate couch companion, perfectly content lounging in his dog bed, relaxing on the couch, and enjoying a few leisurely walks each week. He gets excited when you come home, jogging over to greet you with quiet enthusiasm and affection. Judd is food motivated, crate trained, and housetrained with excellent manners. He rides well in the car and enjoys a calm, predictable routine. While he walks nicely on leash most of the time, he truly doesn’t require much activity. A backyard and occasional walks are more than enough for this low-energy boy. With proper introductions, Judd does well with other dogs. He has lived peacefully with multiple dogs of varying sizes, including two Labradoodles (30 lbs and 40 lbs), a 100 lb female Great Dane, and a 135 lb male Great Dane. Judd prefers calm companions and tends to act as the “fun police” when play becomes too rambunctious. Because of this, he would do best with mellow dog friends or as the only dog in the home. Judd has done well around children, including babies. His previous owner raised a baby in the home without any issues, and he has also remained calm and well-mannered during visits from families with infants at his foster home. Judd is loyal and protective of his home and people. With a proper introduction, he is friendly and affectionate with new people. However, if someone unfamiliar enters loudly or unexpectedly, he may bark or growl initially as he assesses the situation. Judd is afraid of thunderstorms and feels most comfortable when his person is nearby. When left alone during storms, he may benefit from calming aids such as CBD treats. He is also allergic to fleas and may have limited vision or blindness in one eye. Judd prefers women but is also happy to bond with a male owner. What matters most to him is having someone to love and spend time with. He would do best in a home where someone is around more often, as he thrives on companionship and may become lonely if left alone for long periods. Judd is a gentle, affectionate, and devoted companion looking for a quiet home and a person to call his own. If you’re searching for a calm, loving dog who will be your loyal shadow and best friend, Judd may be the one for you. Overview:
The Great Dane is an impressive and regal breed, often dubbed the "Apollo of Dogs" for its dignified stature and noble appearance. Originating in Germany, where it was historically bred for hunting boar, this giant breed is renowned for its immense size and striking presence. Physically, Great Danes are characterized by their tall, muscular build, short coat (available in various colors like fawn, brindle, black, blue, and harlequin), and expressive eyes. Despite their formidable size, they possess a surprisingly gentle and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being patient with children and generally get along well with other pets. While their size might suggest otherwise, Great Danes can adapt to apartment living if provided with sufficient daily exercise, as they are not overly energetic indoors. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus), hip dysplasia, and certain heart conditions, necessitating careful breeding and regular veterinary check-ups. Overall, a Great Dane offers a loving and loyal addition to the right home.
