Let us call him Outlaw for short here since he is also a small 5-year-old hound mix who seeks a fun family for his forever home. Outlaw weighs 39 pounds and is a medium sized dog (31-60 pounds). There is no end to adventure and frolic with Outlaw the comedian who delights in children and other dogs for companionship and entertainment. Outlaw even enjoys spending time with cats as he has been known to share his space with them peacefully. Outlaw is working at his house training and leash walking. It is important to remember that rescue dogs have experienced many transitions and may have accidents as they become accustomed to a new home and new routines. If crate training is planned, Outlaw Potato deserves a crate that he can stand up, turn around and lie down comfortably for a nap. Crates must be warm, welcoming places and never used for punishment. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
