Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff. Meet Ozzie — Adoptable through AZ Mastiff Rescue Ozzie is a sweet Cane Corso short stack and a whole hunk of love. This boy is calm, well behaved, and just an all-around terrific dog. Ozzie lost his home when his family started having babies and decided they no longer had enough time to focus on him. When he needed someone, AZ Mastiff Rescue stepped up , and we have never looked back. He has shown us exactly what a wonderful dog he is. Ozzie is dog friendly and does well in playgroup. His ideal home would include a large breed female dog with a similar play style. He is house trained, crate trained, walks well on leash, and is not destructive . He is also not a big barker , making him a great fit for a calmer home. Because of his size and breed, Ozzie would do best with older kids who understand and respect big dogs. Ozzie is ready for a family who will love him forever and never make him feel like he is out of place again. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
