Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Please read ALL below where you will find answers about the pet, our adoption fees and how to do our adoption application! Pet Description: Aurora is a 2 yr, 9 month-year-old female, 46 lbs, adopted from us as a pup but their life changed and she was having to stay crated 12 hours/day which is just too much to ask of a young, energetic dog and they felt that was unfair to her so we told them to just get her back to us. Aurora is a wonderful dog - house and crate-trained; great with dogs at the dog park, loves children, good with cats. She is playful and happy and will be a perfect addition to an active family. She was trained to an electronic collar when off lead; does like to pull if in a harness. DOG ADOPTION FEE is $100. This Adoption fee includes: mandatory spay/neuter which will be done before you can take your dog or puppy home with you; basic canine immunizations (DHPP-CPV & Bordatella Intranasal); de-wormings; one-year rabies vaccination if old enough; heartworm test if over five months old; microchip from 24-Pet Watch; certificate for free health examination at your participating veterinarian; and a goodie bag chocked full of information, toys, and more. (If a dog is sponsored or has a waived or lower fee, that info will be provided at the point of adoption to the approved adopter). Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
