Gorgeous young girl looking for a fresh start! PETAL NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Petal Best Guess for Breed: Poodle Mix Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of April 2026 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 7.2 lbs as of April 2026 Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: Shelter. Needs a forever home! Petal is Looking For: A forever family! Petal landed in the shelter through no fault of her own, and she is now looking for a place she can finish growing up. Since she is a growing girl, she will need plenty of walks, and time around doggy friends so she can learn to be a good canine citizen. She would love plenty of toys and treats as well as a nice couch to snuggle up on and watch the latest episodes of all of your favorite shows (just make sure to catch her up first!) What do you say, do you have room for a fluffy buddy to join your family? Due to her coat texture, Petal will need near daily brushing at home as well as regular professional grooming appointments to keep her coat looking and feeling great! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
