Description
Dog Breed: Beagle. PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. Look at that face Frank…a friendly and sweet Beagle looking for his forever home! Please share!! Cone of shame only because he was recently neutered. Frank was found as a stray and never claimed. We believe he was dumped This boy is as SWEET as they come. He loves people. He is not high energy and has not been super vocal like some hounds are. We believe he is about 3 years old. He is good with other dogs and kids. He’s fostered on a farm and has been fine with the cows and chickens. He weighs about 35 pounds. He rides well in the car, but would like to be in your lap and help drive. He is crate trained and house trained. He jumps on people but only out of excitement and wanting your attention. He does try to steal food off the counter/table when he knows it’s there. He should go to a home with a fenced yard due to that hound nose!! He is neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. In New England Adoption application form.jotform/212690945239059 Email apps.aasrgmail with any questions. Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. Overview:
The Beagle is a beloved scent hound with a rich history, originally bred in England for hunting hare and rabbit. Their most recognizable physical traits include a sturdy, compact build, adorable floppy ears, and soulful brown or hazel eyes. Beagles typically weigh between 18-30 pounds and stand 13-16 inches tall, featuring a smooth, dense coat that comes in a variety of tri-color or bi-color patterns. In terms of temperament, they are known for being exceptionally friendly, curious, and outgoing, making them wonderful companions for families with children and other pets. However, their strong prey drive and inclination to follow interesting scents mean they require a securely fenced yard and consistent leash training. While adaptable, their need for exercise and tendency to vocalize (howl!) makes them less ideal for small apartment living unless daily walks and mental stimulation are guaranteed. Regarding health, Beagles can be prone to certain conditions like hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and intervertebral disc disease, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important.
