Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). Meet DJ! A 5 years old Siberian Husky with a big personality and a even bigger heart. This handsome, intelligent boy isn't shy about speaking his mind, he'll keep you laughing daily with his classic Husky vocals and expressive nature. Always ready for adventure, DJ loves exploring the world, wheter it's a beach day, a scenic hike, or a fun trip to the park. He's also a fantastic car companion, happily soaking in the breeze and watching life pass by. DJ is incredible intelligent, but like many Huskies, he can be a bit stubborn. He will need an experienced adopter who can set clear expectations and boundaries from the start. He's also a sensitive dog who may be aloof with new people first. After spending over two years in the shelter, he's had many people come and go, so he'll need time, patience and undesrting to descompress and build trust. Once he does, he seeks out affection and connection in his own special way. He communicates cleary and will let you know when he's uncomfortable. It's important that his future family respects his boundaries while providing consistent guidance. Because of this, he would do best with an experienced owner. DJ is ready to be part of a family for ever, come meet him and fall in love with him!

Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
