Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Tracey is a 4-year-old Pit Bull Terrier with the sweetest little “teefy” smile you’ve ever seen. At 74 pounds, she’s a beautiful, sturdy girl, but don’t let her size fool you… she’s really just a gentle cuddlebug who wants nothing more than to be close to her people. Tracey is fully house-trained, well-mannered, and enjoys the freedom of roaming the home. She’s an easy companion, quiet, calm, and happiest curled up beside you or tucked under a cozy blanket. She’ll gently paw at you for attention, make adorable little vibrato noises to say “notice me,” and give the softest huffs when she’s unsure and needs comfort. Once she trusts you, her affection is endless. Tracey walks well on a leash with a couple of walks per day, and she’s a champion sniffer! She’s not high-energy, but she enjoys squeaky toys, running around the backyard and small games of catching a tennis ball. Tracey is on a weight reducing diet and is slowly losing weight. She is strong, healthy and has no known medical concerns or needs at this time. Tracey is interested in other dogs and may be happy with a low-energy canine sibling, but she cannot live with cats. Sudden movements can startle her, so she’s looking for a calm, quiet home where she can feel safe. Because of this, her foster family also believes that she cannot live with young children in case there is any rough play or loud noise. Tracey’s dream home is one filled with love, routine, and companionship. She’s not just looking for an owner, she’s looking for her person, someone who will be her safe place, her advocate, and her forever family. If you’re ready for a deeply devoted, affectionate companion who will love you with her whole heart, Tracey is waiting to meet you. If you are interested in Tracey, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - pethavenmn/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/ The adoption fee is $450. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
