River is very much a puppy—full of energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm for the world around him. He will thrive in an active home that can provide consistent training, routine, and positive outlets for his energy to help him grow into his best self. River was initially unsure when first introduced to cats, showing cautious curiosity. Once he had time to understand them, he became quite interested in play. He will do best with a dog-savvy cat in a home that can manage his playful enthusiasm and ensure the cat has safe spaces to retreat and decompress. With dogs, River benefits from slow introductions, as high-energy, overly exuberant puppies can make him nervous at first. He would do best with a medium-energy dog who can be appropriately matched during introductions and then engage in play once River is comfortable. Based on his suspected breed, Catahoula-type dogs are known for their intelligence, independence, and need for both mental and physical stimulation. They tend to do best in homes that can offer ongoing training, enrichment, and a sense of purpose. River is a young dog with lots of potential, ready for a home that will help guide him as he grows.
