Description
Dog Breed: Beagle. Adoption Fee: $350.00. UPDATE ON BEASLEY - This brave little beagle continues to grow in confidence! He was rescued from the woods in Kentucky and was full of fear and unsocialized but now he is READY for the right family to fall in love with him. He is undoubtedly STINKING CUTE and he's a great cuddler in bed. His housetraining is on target, he walks great on leash and is very easy to care for. Beasley does enjoy walks and stays by your side, but he can get spooked easily so safety is important and we'd really like him to have a securely fenced yard. He is pretty low key and likes to chill out on his dog bed which is up on the sofa. Beasley is not aggressive at all with food or treats. When he first arrived he wasn't sure about taking a treat from his foster mom. Now if she has food, he will come up on her lap. He loves bones, antlers and chew toys. He is learning to play with the other beagle... mostly he puts his butt in the air and jumps around. He does great with other dogs and cats and is okay with children, but he does prefers a quiet place and would probably do better with older people. It would be nice if they were home a lot, but he does not get anxious when left alone. His foster mom doesn't crate him when the family goes out and they have left him for up to 6 hours with no accidents or mischief. Beasley's rescue is not complete until someone's heart leads them to provide him a forever home with love and security. Will you be a rescuer with us for Beasley?

Overview:
The Beagle is a beloved scent hound with a rich history, originally bred in England for hunting hare and rabbit. Their most recognizable physical traits include a sturdy, compact build, adorable floppy ears, and soulful brown or hazel eyes. Beagles typically weigh between 18-30 pounds and stand 13-16 inches tall, featuring a smooth, dense coat that comes in a variety of tri-color or bi-color patterns. In terms of temperament, they are known for being exceptionally friendly, curious, and outgoing, making them wonderful companions for families with children and other pets. However, their strong prey drive and inclination to follow interesting scents mean they require a securely fenced yard and consistent leash training. While adaptable, their need for exercise and tendency to vocalize (howl!) makes them less ideal for small apartment living unless daily walks and mental stimulation are guaranteed. Regarding health, Beagles can be prone to certain conditions like hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and intervertebral disc disease, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important.
