Description
Dog Breed: Doberman Pinscher (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400.00. Meet Chance — and get ready to fall in love! When Chance first came to Doberman Underground Rescue , he weighed just 31 pounds… painfully underweight, with every protruding rib, bone, and sore telling the story of the life he had endured. He looked more like a skeleton than the strong, handsome Doberman he was always meant to be. Once we sprung him from the shelter, Chance got right to work on healing. He started eating like a champ—gaining not only much-needed weight, but also strength, energy, and a little sparkle back in his eyes. Today he has transformed into a beautiful red boy and his personality is shining through. Chance loves his morning runs around the yard with his "pet" squid covering his face as he bounces around playfully. He has shown respect to the older resident dog in his foster home and truly enjoys being petted by anybody who walks up to him. His trainer really enjoyed the time he spent with Chance and tells us he has the natural temperament to be a therapy dog! Chance would do best with an experienced Doberman owner in an active home that gives him a safe space to run and takes him on activities. He will stick with you no matter where you go. The best part? Chance has the heart and potential to be the perfect dog. He just needs someone willing to take a chance on him. Is that you? Overview:
The Doberman Pinscher is a sleek and powerful breed originating from Germany in the late 19th century, specifically developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann for protection. Known for their striking, athletic build, Dobermans typically possess a short, glossy coat that comes in black, red, blue, or fawn, often with rust-colored markings. Their temperament is a fascinating blend of loyalty, intelligence, and alertness, making them exceptional guardians and devoted companions. While highly trainable and eager to please, they require early socialization and consistent training to channel their energy and protectiveness appropriately. Dobermans can thrive in active families who can provide ample exercise and mental stimulation, but their need for space and activity generally makes them less suitable for small apartment living unless exceptionally well-exercised. Regarding health, they are predisposed to certain conditions like Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), Von Willebrand's Disease, and Wobbler Syndrome, so responsible breeding and veterinary care are paramount.
