Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Two Chihuahua-mix siblings, Lolo and Avah, were surrendered to a shelter in TX then rescued by a foster for NorthStar. Both girls are now adjusting to their new surroundings and getting ready to make the trip to NJ to find a new home. Lolo is the brown & white Chi who is 10 years old and weighs only 7 pounds. Avah is white & black, is 7 years old and weighs 9 pounds. Both girls are friendly and looking for love! The dog sitter said Avah and Lolo ran out to greet her and both enjoyed being loved on. Foster mom believes the girls are 99% housetrained as they keep their area clean. As we find out more about each girl, we will update their bios. The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers.
