Description

Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Meet Bella! Age: Approximately 7-8 years old. Breed: chihuahua. Size: est 9lbs. Training: Crate trained, working on leash and house training and doing well. Good with dogs/cats? Yes to both. Good with kids/men/women? She can be a shy at first, but warms up to be affectionate and loyal! She can be nervous around small children so we feel she would do best in a quiet home. Personality: once he warms up, she is friendly, affectionate, and laid back. Reason for rescue: Bella's owner had to go into assisted living and needed to rehome Bella and her daughter. She is spayed, heartworm negative, microchipped, and current on all vaccinations and preventatives. If you are interested in adding this sweet girl to your family, please message us to request an adoption application. Adoption fee: $150.

Overview:

The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
