Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 350. Meet Frost! This playful, affectionate 8-9 month old Shepherd Mix boy (about 35lbs) is your ready-to-go sidekick with a slightly adventurous streak and serious main-character energy. He's got a handsome brindle coat with a white chest patch, floppy ears that keep things perfectly unpolished, and a knack for striking a pose when the camera comes out. Frost is happy, easygoing, and curious, equally up for a good cuddle or a romp in the yard with his canine pals. He's still working on crate and house training but is eager and engaged every step of the way. He'd thrive in an active home ready to continue his training and bring him along for all of life's adventures. The adoption fee of $350 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
