Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 250. If you’re looking for a dog to truly love—not just have—Kimba isexactly who you’ve been waiting for. Kimba is a 2-year-old sweetheart who’s ready to leave her mama days behind and finally just be someone’s dog. She’s about 60 pounds of gentle, loyal energy and is happiest when she’s close to her person. If you want a companion who will look to you for comfort, connection, and reassurance—you’ll feel that with her. She may be a little shy when you first meet her, but give her a little space and patience, and you’ll watch her soften right into you. Once she trusts you, she’s all in. This takes about 5 min. She’s already set up to make life easy: * Crate trained * Potty trained * Leash trained * Learning commands and eager to please She’s also treat motivated (still connecting the dots, but she’s getting there), and she genuinely enjoys getting out for walks—she’s calm and easy on a leash, loves to stay right by your hip. Kimba is good with other dogs and would be happy with a companion or soaking up all your attention as your one-and-only. With her size, she’d do best with kids who understand how to respect her boundaries. What she really wants is simple: a safe home, a soft place to land, and someone to spend her days with. If you’re the kind of person who wants a dog that will quietly become your shadow, your comfort, and your steady presence—Kimba is ready for you. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
