NAME: Poppy BREED: Kokoni - see notes below SEX: female COLOR: tan/white AGE: born 1/16/26 WEIGHT: 10 lbs as of 4/20/26 LOCATED IN: Arcadia SOME COOL INFORMATION ABOUT ME: Meet Poppy this adorable 5-month-old Kokoni girl, a 10-pound bundle of soft, wavy fur, big personality, and even bigger opinions. She is full of energy, attitude, and charm, and shes convinced shes the leader of the pack. She loves to play with her foster siblings and her favorite games are stalking, tug o war, and keep-away. After shes burned off her zoomies, shes all about cuddles and soaking up affection. This smart, spirited pup will thrive in an active home that can keep up with her playful nature. Shed love a playful canine or feline companion and someone who can provide structure, guidance, and loving leadership. She is working on house training and leash training. ***Poppy's previous owner said she is a pure breed Kokoni - this is a breed from Greece and not one you might normally find here. So rare that Petfinder doesn't even list it as an option! They look similar to the Tibetan Spaniel so we ended up listing her that way. Google has a lot of info on the Kokoni breed so I would encourage you to check them out!! Overview:
The Tibetan Spaniel is a charming and ancient breed, originating in the mountainous regions of Tibet where they were revered companions in monasteries. Despite their name, they are not true spaniels but rather a "temple dog" or "lion dog," sharing ancestry with breeds like the Pekingese and Lhasa Apso. Physically, they are small, well-proportioned dogs with a distinctive "lion-like" mane around their neck, a plumed tail carried over their back, and a double coat that comes in a variety of colors. Their expression is often described as alert and intelligent. Temperamentally, Tibbies are known for being playful, affectionate, and fiercely loyal to their families, though they can be reserved with strangers – excellent watchdogs despite their size. They adapt well to various living situations, making them suitable for apartment living as long as they receive regular walks and mental stimulation. Generally a healthy breed, they are prone to certain genetic conditions like patellar luxation, progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), and primary lens luxation (PLL), so reputable breeding is crucial. Their relatively low grooming needs and friendly nature make them wonderful companions for many households.
