(as of 4/16/26) This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. We DO talk about Bruno and Bruno is a Gorgeous Gentle Giant! Beautiful Bruno seems to be a Labradoodle mix. He is described as a perfect houseguest by his current foster home. Besides being affable to all types and ages of humans so far, his foster family says they love his personality, good manners and stunning coat. He is able to spend 6 to 8 hours in his crate and has had no accidents while housetraining. He has gotten along with dogs of various sizes and loves some tug of war and bitey play with his pup friends. He has met a few cats, been curious about them and has been able to be redirected. Bruno likes to play outside and is then happy to chill out. He is fairly quiet and likes his cuddle "lap" time with his humans. He likes to go for walks on a leash and can zigzag at times so he could do with some more practice. He rides well in a car and so far has been crated. Young Bruno would benefit from obedience training to refine his skills. Once in a while he will jump on a guest to enthusiastically greet them. Bruno is described as goofy, affectionate and likes meeting new people. Look at that smile - who wouldn't want to be greeted by him at the end of the day? While he is a bigger dog, he could shed just a few pounds to be healthier. Bruno is such an all around great guy. He gets along with everyone and will be a wonderful addition to his lucky new family. He is ready to meet you, settle in to his forever home and share his huge heart. Medical Note: This dog is being treated/has been treated for heartworm disease. Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future. Whenever possible, SOSARL advocates for following the American Heartworm Society guidelines for heartworm disease treatment as the safest and most effective methods; the active portion of this treatment protocol can take up to four months to complete. Once treatment is completed and the dog tests negative for microfilaria, the dog will be cleared to resume normal activity and will be ready to travel north and be placed into an adoptive home. This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment, and is expected to complete treatment with no complications. Please ask your Adoption Counselor for the specific treatment protocol used for and current status of this dog. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl) **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Labradoodle is a charming and increasingly popular hybrid breed, originating in Australia in the late 1980s with the goal of creating a guide dog for a visually impaired individual allergic to dog hair. This delightful canine combines the best traits of its parent breeds: the intelligent Poodle (Standard) and the friendly Labrador Retriever. Physically, Labradoodles boast a range of sizes and coat types, from wavy fleece to curly wool, often shed-reduced, making them a potential option for individuals with mild allergies. Their coats come in various colors, including cream, chocolate, and black. Temperamentally, they are known for being sociable, intelligent, and trainable, making them excellent family pets. They thrive on human companionship and require moderate exercise to stay happy and healthy. While adaptable, their energy levels mean they generally prefer homes with yards over small apartments, though daily walks are essential. Common health considerations, inherited from their parent breeds, can include hip and elbow dysplasia, eye conditions, and certain cancers, so choosing a reputable breeder is crucial for a healthy companion.
