Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Meet Rocco. Rocco is a young, energetic guy (around 1 year old) looking for a committed and experienced adopter to help him thrive. He is neutered, microchipped, and fully up to date on vaccines—ready for his next chapter! Rocco is incredibly smart and full of energy. He will do best with an active owner who can keep both his mind and body engaged. He loves toys and is always ready for playtime, making him a great companion for someone who enjoys an on-the-go lifestyle. Because of his energy and need for structure, Rocco would do best as the only animal in the home and with children 10 and older. An experienced owner will be key in helping him build good habits, confidence, and balance. With the right guidance and consistency, Rocco has so much potential to become an amazing, loyal companion. If you're ready for a fun, intelligent dog who will keep you moving and thinking, Rocco might be your perfect match. Reach out to learn more or to meet Rocco!Interested in adopting? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
