Description

Dog Breed: Poodle (unknown type) / Golden Retriever / Mixed. Adoption Fee: $425. German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (.heartlandgsrescue) "Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?" for additional information. Margo is a 1-year-old mini Goldendoodle with a spirit that’s nothing short of incredible. This spunky, bouncy girl is full of life, love, and resilience—and she’s ready to find the forever home she’s always deserved. Margo’s journey hasn’t been easy. She was found abandoned in a kennel inside an empty home after her previous owners were evicted. Severely neglected, —her eyes even matted shut—malnourished at under 20 pounds (when she should be closer to 45 lbs), and covered in fleas. Thanks to a Good Samaritan, she was rescued just in time and given the medical care, nourishment, and love she so desperately needed. Her coat and skin were in such poor condition that Margo had to be shaved under sedation. She is currently regrowing her fur. Now safe in rescue, Margo is leaving her past behind and looking ahead to a bright, happy future—and her personality is truly blossoming. She’s energetic, playful, and incredibly affectionate. Like a little spring, she bounces through life with joy and excitement. She absolutely loves treats (food is definitely her love language!), enjoys toys of all kinds, and wants nothing more than to be close to her people or dog friends. Margo does great with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a playful canine companion or as your one-and-only. Because of her high energy and enthusiasm, she’d do best with older children who can match her zest for life. Her experience with cats is unknown. She is potty trained and crate trained, though she’s still working through some kennel-related habits due to her past trauma. With patience and consistency, she continues to make great progress. She’s also learning leash skills and will flourish with continued guidance and structure. Margo’s ideal home is one filled with love, patience, and plenty of playtime. She doesn’t ask for much—just a family who will cherish her, include her, and give her the life she fought so hard to have. In return, she’ll give you her whole heart. Like many Doodle breeds, Margo will need ongoing training, consistency, boundaries, and plenty of physical and mental activity to thrive. She would do best in an active home that can provide strong leadership, structure, and regular socialization. Breed experience (or similar high-energy dog experience) is preferred. Even with a fenced yard, daily walks and outings are essential to keep her mentally stimulated, prevent boredom, and continue building good leash manners. Margo’s adoption fee is $425, which helps offset the significant cost of her veterinary care and allows us to continue rescuing dogs in need. We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue and rely on adoption fees and donations to save lives. Her adoption fee includes spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, heartworm testing (and treatment if needed), and a microchip. Don't wait to apply for this lovely girl! Please review the information in the "About Us", "Important Considerations" and "Adopt" sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.
