Description

Dog Breed: Great Dane (short coat). Meet DUKE – Your Gentle Giant, Goofball & Mini Horse (Just Kidding… Kinda ) Hi there! I’m Duke, and yes… I’m a BIG boy with a BIG heart to match I came into a shelter in Tennessee weighing a solid 77 lbs and was dealing with cuts, infections, and a rough past. The people who had me before were charged with animal cruelty, but guess what? That chapter is CLOSED ❌ and I’m officially free, healed, and ready for a brand‑new life! Now let’s talk about the real me I am SUPER friendly and love everyone I meet—especially humans and older kids ‍‍ I also have a blast pouncing around the play yard with my dog friends like a clumsy, lovable tank Because I’m basically a mini horse disguised as a dog, I’ll need a big backyard where I can stretch my legs, zoom around, and enjoy life ☀️ When I’m not galloping around, you’ll find me: Laying in the sun Playing with my toys Devouring treats like they’re the best invention ever (because they are) Giving love-bug vibes nonstop One of my favorite things? CAR RIDES!! Picture this: me, head out the window, ears flapping dramatically, drool flying everywhere like a badge of honor Yep. That’s Duke. I am done looking back at the terrible life I had before. From here on out, I’m all about fun, love, laughter, and making memories I promise to give my future family endless affection, loyalty, and daily laughs with my goofy tactics. I deserve the very best family, and in return, I’ll give you: ✅ A loving dog ✅ A goofy best friend ✅ A ride‑or‑die adventure buddy ✅ And maybe… a mini horse (LOL just kidding ) Apply for Duke today and bring home the love of a lifetime! Great Dane

A.K.A.: German Mastiff, Deutsche Dogge, Dänische Dogge, Tigerdogge, Ulmer Dogge, Englische Dogge, Grand Danois, Dogue Allemand, Great German Dog, Apollo of Dogs, King of Hounds, Gentle Giant, Dane
Overview:

The Great Dane is an impressive and regal breed, often dubbed the "Apollo of Dogs" for its dignified stature and noble appearance. Originating in Germany, where it was historically bred for hunting boar, this giant breed is renowned for its immense size and striking presence. Physically, Great Danes are characterized by their tall, muscular build, short coat (available in various colors like fawn, brindle, black, blue, and harlequin), and expressive eyes. Despite their formidable size, they possess a surprisingly gentle and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being patient with children and generally get along well with other pets. While their size might suggest otherwise, Great Danes can adapt to apartment living if provided with sufficient daily exercise, as they are not overly energetic indoors. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus), hip dysplasia, and certain heart conditions, necessitating careful breeding and regular veterinary check-ups. Overall, a Great Dane offers a loving and loyal addition to the right home.
