Dog Breed: Unknown breed (long coat). Blondie's adoption is pending. She is getting a chance to see if she will work out with a prospective adopter. They took advantage of our Foster - to - Adopt program to give her a try in their own home. Meet Blondie! We estimate she’s about a year old. She’s a loving, people focused pup who wants to be close to her humans and may greet you with a little jumping out of excitement. Once she settles, she’s happiest curled up in your lap, soaking up attention. Blondie has beautiful long, soft fur that will need regular grooming. She appears to be house trained but will need help adjusting to a new routine. She’ll thrive with someone who enjoys an affectionate companion and is ready to help her continue learning and growing. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered (if they are old enough) before they leave the shelter. If the dog is not old enough, you will be given a voucher for Animal Medical Center in Emmett to cover the cost of the spay or neuter. Please fill out an application if you are interested in this dog or call us today for more information. Because we are an all-volunteer organization, please call ahead to schedule a time for a Meet & Greet so we can ensure a dog handler is available to show you the dog or dogs you are interested in. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
