Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Iâm still figuring things out. Everything feels a little new and a little overwhelming right now, so I tend to hang back at first and watch. Iâm not the kind of dog who rushes right up... I need a bit of time to understand that Iâm safe and that youâre someone I can trust. But once I do? I really hold on to my people. Iâll stay close, follow you from room to room, and lean into you for comfort. Being near someone I trust helps me feel steady, like maybe the world isnât so uncertain after all.Shelter life has been hard for me. The noise, the changes, the not knowing what comes next; it gets to my head sometimes. Iâm trying my best, but Iâd really do better somewhere calm, somewhere I can settle in and finally relax. Iâm still building my confidence, one small step at a time. I just need someone patient who will show me the way and remind me that Iâm okay. With consistency, reassurance, and a bit of training, I can learn. What I need most is someone willing to stick with me while I figure it out, because once I trust you, Iâll be yours completely.

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
