Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Meet Niko – Energetic & Loyal Companion Looking for the Right Home Niko is a 2-year-old mixed-breed dog full of energy, personality, and love. He enjoys playing fetch, going on walks, and soaking up attention. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will stick by your side, Niko may be a great match. Niko would do best as the only pet, as he prefers having his space and resources to himself. He thrives with clear structure, firm boundaries, who understands energetic dogs and can provide consistent guidance. A home with a large fenced yard/farm setting would be ideal, giving him the space he needs to run, explore, and burn off energy. He truly shines when he can stay active and engaged. Due to a recent resource guarding incident, our family—especially my special needs daughter and other dog—has become fearful. With heavy hearts, I believe the best thing for Niko is a new home where he can feel secure and be set up for success. Niko is neutered, up to date on shots, current on flea, heartworm, and tick (Simparico Trio), and is microchipped. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
