Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Paul Slebzak (paulsluckydoganimalrescue) for more information about this pet. Good girl looking for her forever home! BURRITO NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Burrito Best Guess for Breed: Chihuahua mix Best Guess for Age: 4 years as of April 2026 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 10.7 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home Special adoption considerations: Burrito is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Burrito is Looking For: Meet Burrito — a petite 10-pound Chihuahua with a warm tan coat and an equally warm presence. She’s the perfect size for cozy laps, sunny windowsills, and tagging along on your daily adventures. Burrito has a gentle charm and a personality that’s just waiting to shine in the right home. Whether you’re looking for a loyal sidekick or a tiny companion to brighten your days, Burrito could be the perfect match. What My Foster Says About Me: Burrito is a little love bug and an absolute joy to have around. She hasn’t had any accidents and is PERFECT in her crate. Sometimes it’s hard to get her out once she’s found a good spot! She likes to dig under blankets, so sometimes she disappears from sight (only caused a slight heart attack the first time). She’s a classic chihuahua that loves the sunshine, cuddles, and her people. She’s started to show signs of possessiveness with food, but we are working to nip that in the bud. She just may not be the best fit for young children that may not understand. I guarantee her little trots will bring joy to her forever people. I think she would do quite well in an apartment with the right people! She doesn’t bark in her crate, doesn’t mind being alone (as long as she has a comfy spot), and doesn’t need a crazy amount of exercise! She’s walking very well on leash and wants to snuggle with any dog she meets. Her adopters will have to commit to lots of cuddles and blankets during the winter — Burrito is quite dramatic when she’s cold and will pathetically shiver until she’s back on a blanket or in the sun. I think she would look fantastic in sweaters. She’s such a catch and will make her people so happy. She’s certainly brought joy to our house! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.
