Meet Sigourney Winter, a bright, affectionate, goofy little pup with a sleek black coat and a naturally social, outgoing personality. She has a fun-loving, bouncy energy and a curious, observant way of exploring the world — always ready to play, meet new people, or flop into your lap for cuddles. Sigourney loves toys, enjoys running and playgroup, and responds beautifully to gentle corrections. She’s intelligent, eager to please, and has that delightful mix of silliness and sweetness that makes her instantly endearing. Like many young puppies, she’s still learning her indoor manners — including resisting the temptation to hop onto furniture — and she’s in the early stages of housetraining and crate training. She’s calm in the car, social with dogs of all sizes, and has an easygoing spirit that makes her a wonderful companion in the making. The Winter litter — Stevie, Kate, and Sigourney — were born in early January of 2026 and have been raised in a loving foster home where they’ve been exposed to adults, children of all ages, and a variety of dogs. They are well‑socialized, confident, and adaptable puppies who enjoy playtime, cuddles, and exploring their environment. Their foster home is quiet, with few visitors and minimal outside traffic, giving them a calm, predictable foundation. As young pups, they will need adopters ready to guide them through all the basics — housetraining, crate time, leash walking, and manners — but they have the temperament, resilience, and social skills to thrive with patient, loving families. Sigourney Winter is ready for a forever family that will appreciate her playful charm, affectionate nature, and bright, curious personality — and help her grow into the wonderful companion she’s meant to be. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
