Unless otherwise noted, ALL animals are fostered and available for adoption on Long Island, NY. Meet Max Max was adopted in 2021, and through no fault of his own, he has found himself in need of a new home after being left behind when his owner moved. For the past six months, he has been lovingly cared for by her landlord, who is heartbroken to say they can no longer keep him. Now about 5 years old and approx 30 lbs, Max is believed to be a Basset mix with a gentle soul and an easygoing nature. He is a truly good boy—happy to play with his toys, ride along in the car, and spend time by your side. Max has been good with children and is friendly when meeting other dogs, offering a polite sniff and remaining non-reactive. While he hasn’t lived with another dog, he handles introductions well. He loves people and thrives on affection, happily soaking up pets and attention. He will let you know when someone is at the door, but he listens well and settles when reassured. Max is housebroken, well-mannered, and simply a wonderful, easy companion to have around. His current caregiver cares deeply for him and is devastated to have to let him go, which speaks volumes about what a special dog he is. Right now, Max just needs a place to land—a foster or forever home where he can feel safe and loved again. Can you help give this deserving boy the next chapter he’s been waiting for?
