Description
Dog Breed: Maltese / Poodle (Toy) (long coat). Meet Frosty! DOB 1/25/2024 Weight: 11 lbs Frosty was adopted as a puppy and is being returned due to medical issues in his family. He is very energetic, loves to play and run (zoom!), and is very vocal (so no apartments!). Frosty is super sweet and loving, very intelligent, is completely potty trained and never has accidents. He has a tendency to guard things and for this reason, should not be in a home with small children. He does great with other dogs including in daycare/group play but hasn't been around cats before. He sleeps in a kennel at night and eats twice per day (in the morning and in the afternoon). He prefers to eat on a mat rather than out of a bowl. Frosty's favorite thing is to chew on bully sticks throughout the day, likes to go to bed at about 9:00 PM and usually gets up at around 6:00 AM. He loves to be around people. He rings the bell to go outside or will look at you and bark. If you then ask him if he wants to go outside, he will bark again. Frosty likes to eat canned food mixed in with his dry food. Frosty doesn't shed but will need regular, professional grooming and daily brushing to be healthy and comfortable. Please consider this added expense when applying to adopt him. Frosty's adoption fee is $500. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Please complete an adoption application and someone will reach out to you within 48 hours via email. Adoption Application - Legacy Humane Society **** DFW area applications only *** We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Overview:
The elegant Maltese is a delightful toy breed renowned for its captivating beauty and charming personality. Originating from the island of Malta, these ancient dogs were once favored companions of European nobility. Physically, they are characterized by their single coat of long, silky, pure white hair that gracefully drapes over a compact, well-proportioned body, typically weighing between 4-7 pounds. Their expressive dark eyes and black button nose add to their adorable appeal. Temperamentally, Maltese are known for being affectionate, playful, and intelligent, making them highly trainable and eager to please. They thrive on human companionship and are generally excellent with children and other pets, provided they are socialized early. Their small size and relatively low exercise requirements make them ideal for apartment living and suitable for families of all types, including first-time dog owners. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of common breed-specific concerns such as dental issues and luxating patellas.
