Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. ‘WINTER OLYMPICS’ THEMED PUPPY: Approx. 3-4 months old / Approx. 12 lbs. & growing Hi there! I’m one of the adorable Winter Olympics themed puppies who came to Mostly Mutts along with my mom and siblings when I was about 3 weeks old, thanks to a kind person who helped all of us get here safely. I grew and thrived in a wonderful foster home, and now I’m at the Mostly Mutts shelter ready to find a loving family of my own – one where I can enjoy lots of fun and love furever! I was adopted for a month, and my family said that I was wonderful, it just seems that I need more space than they had. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I loved my siblings and played well with the adult dog in my foster home, too. My temp. family also reported that I liked the dogs I met while I was with them, so if you have a nice dog that would like a puppy friend, let’s meet! / I was curious about the cat in my foster home, who is very dog friendly. When I tried to check her out, she sometimes gave me a little swat to remind me about personal space, and I respect that and went about my business. All cats are different, so I’m not sure how I would do with another kitty. / I haven’t met kids yet, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me and remember I’m in the mouthy phase of puppyhood so it’s helpful to have plenty of toys to trade so I can chew on those instead of nibbling on fingers. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a cute pup with lots of happiness and playfulness to share with you as well as plenty of puppy energy. I love being near my people and enjoy being part of whatever you’re doing, though I’m also quite an independent little explorer and Houdini-like in that I could escape the kitchen enclosure in my former foster home – lol. I’m pretty vocal at times, so I’d probably do best in a house rather than an apartment or condo setting. I play hard, zoom around investigating everything, and then crash for a good puppy nap. I’m starting to enjoy being held and cuddled for a little while, but after a bit, I’m usually ready to be put down so I can explore and run around again. / Energy level: currently 6-8, though this could change as I grow up. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’ and ‘place’ commands and I look forward to learning more. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog – including starting to train me not to chew on you and the kids so we’ll all be happy! My trainer is working with me on my mouthiness during leashing (I’m just so excited!) and they will be happy to share what’s working well for me. / In my former foster home, I was a bit vocal when left alone, but eventually I did settle down and go to sleep with the sibling I was fostered with. I’m sure with time, a good routine and training, I’ll settle in. / My potty training is coming along nicely. I’m just a baby, but when taken out regularly, I do both #1 and #2 outside. Of course, I’m at the beginning of this training, so I’ll need my family to be very consistent on a good schedule! • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love treats, toys, mealtimes, playing, and taking cozy naps. As I grow, I’m sure we’ll discover lots of other fun things we’ll enjoy doing together! / Other than being alone too much, I can’t think of things I don’t like yet since I’m so young, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow. I’m also micro-chipped and spayed. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
