Please apply online at texasgreatdane/adoption-application/ ** Meet Hank – your future best friend and full-time fun coordinator! At 18 months old and 70 pounds, Hank is a big, goofy bundle of joy who’s always ready to make life a little more entertaining. We think he’s a Wirehaired German Shorthaired Pointer/Lab mix—but we’ve sent off a DNA test, so stay tuned for the official scoop! Whatever his mix, one thing’s for sure: this boy is 100% lovable. Hank is an absolute hoot who lives for playtime. Whether it’s romping around with his foster siblings or splashing in the water (one of his favorite things ever), he’s all in. He truly doesn’t have a mean bone in his body and enjoys the company of everyone he meets—dogs and humans alike. He’s got the home life down, too. Hank does great in his kennel, is fully housebroken, and has mastered the dog door like a pro. He’s the kind of dog who can bring energy and fun to your day but also settle in nicely when it’s time to relax. Hank is neutered, current on all vaccinations, and heartworm negative—healthy and ready to head to his forever home. If you’re looking for a happy, playful, and easygoing companion who will keep you smiling, Hank might just be your guy. Please understand you are committing to providing a good home for his entire life (up to 15+ years or more.) You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization. His adoption fee is $250. This includes his neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, Nobivac® Canine 1-DAPP vaccination, Nobivac® Intra-Trac 3 vaccination, Drontal® Plus, IDEXX SNAP® 4Dx Plus Test, Tri-Heart® Plus chewable tablet, 24PetWatch® microchip, and leash and collar. Please be aware that puppies and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so interested parties are encouraged to apply online at .saspca. Please ensure your application is complete before submitting. We do verify property ownership, landlord references, apartment/HOA restrictions, veterinary references. The adoption events are held every other Saturday at Petco located in the Northwoods Shopping Center at 18138 San Pedro Ave, San Antonio TX 78232. Event hours are 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Additional questions may be directed to sagdinfogmail. ** This dog is in a foster home in San Antonio, TX. Breed overview
Overview:
The Wirehaired Lab, a dynamic crossbreed of the German Wirehaired Pointer and Labrador Retriever, originated from a desire to combine the best qualities of its sporting parent breeds. Physically, they typically boast a dense, wiry, and water-resistant coat, often ranging in shades of black, brown, or yellow, and inherit the Lab's sturdy build with the Pointer's athletic lean. Their temperament is generally a winning blend of the Lab's friendly, outgoing nature and the Pointer's intelligent, eager-to-please drive, making them highly trainable and affectionate. However, their high energy levels mean they are unsuitable for apartment living and thrive in active families who can provide ample exercise and mental stimulation. While generally robust, potential health concerns can include those common to their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia and certain eye conditions, highlighting the importance of responsible breeding practices.
