Description
Dog Breed: Xoloitzcuintle/Mexican Hairless / Mixed (short coat). Hey Hey Hey! My name is Bluu and I am one unique dog! I'm a Xolo, which means I'm suppose to be hairless (so prepare to bundle me up in the winter!). A few things that my foster family thinks you should know about me (other than I am 100% a good boy) is that I do great in a kennel! I only cry if I need to go potty in the middle of the night and when someone initially leaves but I settle down quickly and don't make a peep. I'm learning how to go potty outside and haven't quite figured out how to tell my family I need to go, but when the back door is open during the day I don't have any accidents in the house. I'm not sure if I'm good with kids, I know I'm not a fan of being chased though, but I'm pretty great with my foster sisters! I even met their boy cousin, and even though I wasn't too sure about him at first we played nicely enough, my foster mom did have to step in when we got too rough. I've never been around cats so I'm not sure how I would do with them. As mentioned I'm not a fan of being chased and not the greatest when being held up, but I love to snuggle close to you on the bed or couch or even if you're sitting on the floor! Also be prepared for kisses because I love giving those! Because I'm still pretty young I'm figuring out my teeth and sometimes get a little mouthy when I want attention, and I do like to grab onto things that are lying around. I love chewing on toys and bones though, and am learning to play tug! My foster dad works from home so I'm never alone unless my family runs errands then I go into the crate. I do okay on a leash but will definitely need some work on it as I don't like it when my collar gets tight or when the leash pulls on me. I'd say I have mild energy, I love to play and run but also am perfectly content hanging in the office while my foster dad works. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
