Description
Dog Breed: Boxer (short coat). Matilda is a head turner - a big smooshy face, flashy brindle beauty. Rescued from a small municipal shelter where she was at risk of euthanasia, this stunning boxer is getting the fresh start she deserves. Matilda is being treated for a skin infection but her sweetness shines through her discomfort. She does well with most dogs, though she can occasionally be a little grumbly with female dogs - understandable given she wasn’t feeling her best in a stressful shelter environment. Heartworm negative and getting up to date on vet care, Matilda is almost ready for her new home. We believe Matilda would do well with a male companion or as an only dog. We don't have a history with children or cats. Available in the Northeast (NY, NJ, CT, RI, VT, PA, DE, MD, NoVA) Apply to adopt: .chboxerrescue/adopt

Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
