Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Please note that PAHS does NOT do online adoption applications. You must come to the shelter in person to meet the PAHS pets. Daisy is a 4-month-old female Shepherd mix. She is an exceptionally pretty girl who has a mostly black coat with brown and white markings. We believe she will be a large adult dog. Daisy has a precious and spunky little personality. She loves to play with the other puppies at the shelter; and she would be great with children. Daisy does have a cherry eye. (Cherry eye in dogs refers to the prolapse of the third eyelid gland, which can cause a noticeable bulge in the corner of the eye.) Daisy is a very happy go lucky girl who deserves a wonderful family. Please consider giving her the home and family she dreams of. Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75. All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter. Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under "special needs" our dogs have screened heart worm negative. *****Please note that PAHS does NOT do online adoption applications. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
