Description
Dog Breed: Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Please note that PAHS does NOT do online adoption applications. You must come to the shelter in person to meet the PAHS pets. Bonita is a 3-year-old female Black Lab mix who must be spayed before adoption. She was brought in by County Animal Control and her owner never reclaimed her. Bonita is black and has gorgeous soulful brown eyes. She only weighs 34 pounds; and she is too thin but we are working on that with quality dog food. Bonita is timid, shy, and very gentle. She is fine with other dogs and would be good with children. Bonita is a perfect example of why Labs are such a loved breed. She would make a perfect family dog. Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75. All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter. Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under "special needs" our dogs have screened heart worm negative. *****Please note that PAHS does NOT do online adoption applications. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
