Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Meet Mufasa! He is a 38.60 pound little chonky potato! He will need a home with older children as a lot of chaos overwhelms him. He hangs out with other dogs but we have not really seen him play. Mufasa has been diagnosed and started on treatment for skin and ear inflammation and infection, which are suspected to be secondary to allergic skin/ear disease. Common triggers of allergic skin/ear disease in dogs include fleas, environmental allergens (atopic dermatitis), and, less commonly, food allergens (cutaneous adverse food reactions). Additionally, Mufasa has been started on an oral medication (Apoquel) to control itching associated with allergic dermatitis. Mufasa's adopter is encouraged to maintain him, and all other pets in the household, of comprehensive veterinary-recommended parasite protection throughout the year, including flea prevention. Mufasa is next due for parasite protection on 5/27/26. Mufasa's adopter is encouraged to schedule an appointment with their primary care veterinarian as soon as possible. This will allow the adopter's veterinarian to review Mufasa's medical history, perform a baseline examination, and work with the adopter to establish a long-term management plan for Mufasa's skin and ear condition. FWACC reserves the right to place Mufasa in the best fit home.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
