Dog Breed: Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed. Meet Wesley! Wesley is a tiny dog with a massive personality and a surprisingly powerful voice. He’s recently been neutered and is ready to find his forever home. He’s incredibly affectionate, loves to cuddle, and will follow you everywhere like your own very loyal (and slightly dramatic) shadow. He’s also discovered how great life outside the crate is—and he would very much prefer to keep it that way. Wesley takes his role as household alert system seriously. If something moves, makes a sound, or simply exists at the wrong time, he will let you know. He’s not shy about using his voice. His ideal home would be with someone who is around often, doesn’t mind a little noise, and wants a constant companion. In return, Wesley offers endless affection, entertainment, and a whole lot of personality in a very small package. He is neutered, dewormed, microchipped, current with all vaccines (as appropriate for his age) and on flea and heartworm prevention. Wesley is currently being fostered in South Carolina. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
