Description
Dog Breed: Boxer. We’re in search of a foster or adopter for this most handsome boxer, Bud. Sadly Bud’s owner works extremely long hours and his heart is breaking that his boy is spending so much time alone. This was a very difficult decision for his owner to make so please do not shame him. He wants what is best for his dog who he has loved and cherished for the past 5 years. Bud is a gentle giant (close to 80 lbs) who loves children and gets along nicely with female dogs. He is housebroken and loves to play and be with his humans. If you’re interested in fostering and are already approved, please email infochelseashopeboxerrescue or reach out to your coordinator. If you’re an approved and interested adopter, please also send us an email. If you’re new to our rescue but would like to help, please click on the link below to complete a foster application. Location: NY. Available in the Northeast (NY, NJ, CT, RI, VT, PA, DE, MD, NoVA) Apply to adopt: .chboxerrescue/adopt

Breed overview
Boxer
A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
